Following Israel’s Freedom Convoy, a tent city was set up outside of the Knesset to protest the worldwide covid restrictions that still exist in Israel.
The tent city, which included a food tent, was violently taken down by the Israeli police and the Jerusalem Municipality without a warrant or prior warning as is required by law.
MK Gadi Yavarkan (Likud) responded to the destruction in an interview that the protest was a fight for our democracy and that “they should have been allowed to protest.” He added that if MK’s “weren’t afraid to express their thoughts, they would vote agaisnt the authoritarian law (covid measures).”
The tent city was erected last week and evolved into a type of community of like-minded people to share thoughts, ideas, and food. The protestors were non-violent and did not disrupt traffic. Below are the protestors welcoming in the Shabat:
