New polling from the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research just shattered one of the biggest talking points in global politics: the idea that Hamas is an isolated extremist faction ruling over a reluctant population. According to data released just days ago, support for Hamas is rising — not falling — across Gaza and the West Bank two full years after October 7. A majority now says the attack was “the correct decision,” most deny the atrocities ever happened, and nearly 70% oppose disarming Hamas even if it would end the war. With Hamas leading in hypothetical elections and extremist groups like the Houthis scoring sky-high approval, the narrative of a peaceful civilian population “held hostage by Hamas” collapses under its own weight.

This isn’t about inflaming emotions — it’s about confronting uncomfortable facts the world refuses to acknowledge. Palestinians overwhelmingly oppose a demilitarized state, oppose peace with Israel, and support armed resistance. Policy makers, diplomats, and media voices must stop pretending that terrorism flourishes in a vacuum. If the international community truly wants peace, it must understand what these numbers reveal: lasting security will only come through strength, sustained deterrence, and a dramatic cultural shift inside Palestinian society. Hope requires clarity — and clarity begins with truth.
