Hodaya lives with her family in Katsrin, Golan. On the Simchat Torah holiday of October 7th, 2023, she worked as an unarmed security at the Nova Festival in Rei’m. She was surrounded by many of her young friends when Palestinian Hamas terrorists crossed the border and murdered over 360 Israelis, raping and mutilating the bodies. At least 40 people were taken hostage. Her walkie-talkie was inoperative as she tried to save others and herself. At one point, she hid in a car as terrorists hunted around her. Amid the horror, Hodaya turned to God, opening her heart and soul in prayer. For six hours, she prayed as the gunfire came closer. She left the automobile to hide in the bushes, watching in horror as the terrorists went from car to car, murdering occupants and burning the automobiles.
Hodaya was reluctant to make her testimony public but decided that people needed to hear how she cried out to God during this dark moment.
