100 million Pashtuns make up the largest ethnic group in Afghanistan and Pakistan. They are Muslim, but if you ask a Pashtun who he is, he will tell you, “We have been Muslim for 1,500 years, but we have been Bani Israel for 3,500 years.” They observe the Pashtunwali code based on the Torah that Moses brought down from Sinai, and if it is contradicted by the Koran, they adhere to the Pashtunwali. Every Pashtun in Israel knows his tribal identity, which he received from his father. Meet Yusufzai Afridi, a Pashtun who fled Afghanistan and is living in Australia. He is here to speak with the Sanhedrin about the future of his people and how the Pashtun are waking up to their connection with Israel.
