Maya (21) and Itay Regev (18) were kidnapped by Hamas on October 7 during an attack in southern Israel, with Maya frantically calling their father as they were abducted.
Despite the hardships, their father never gave up hope, receiving a mysterious call from “a child of G-d.” Their experience in Gaza, marked by severe injuries and brutal conditions, was harrowing.
While in captivity, Maya and Itay communicated through notes, providing each other with emotional support. They were among over 100 hostages freed during a ceasefire in late November, but their friend Omer Shem Tov remains in captivity. Their story highlights the trauma of hostage situations, the ongoing efforts to secure the release of those still held and the importance in faith in God.
Special thanks to Young Israel of Woodmere for their support in raising awareness about their plight.
