In a speech at the Orthodox Jewish Health Care summit on Monday, Eric Trump, son of former US President Donald Trump, revealed that he was a ‘Shabbos goy’ to an energized crowd of orthodox Jews.

In his address, Trump recalled how as a gentile, he would operate electricity for brother-in-law Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, Eric’s sister. Ivanka converted to Judaism and therefore she and her husband are forbidden from activating electricity on Shabat (Sabbath).

Eric called himself the “Shabbos goy” – a term used for Gentiles who perform various acts on the Sabbath for Jews who are not allowed to perform.He used the example of pressing elevator buttons for the couple.
