In what is being treated as an potential terror attack attempt, two Palestinian women were caught at the Hizme checkpoint in Samaria disguised as ultra-orthodox Jewish women, according to Arutz Sheva News. The two women were apprehended after an Israeli soldier noticed something amiss during a routine bus check. Reportedly, the officer took notice of the apparent ‘ultra-orthodox’ women due to their tense nature, and more alarmingly, the upside-down prayer book in the hands of one of the women. The two women were discovered to be two Ramallah natives in their 30’s and were removed from the bus for investigation.
Several years ago, radical Palestinian clerics began authorizing female suicide bombers, specifically encouraging them to dress as religious Jewish women, whose code of dress was described as modest enough to allow female terrorists to infiltrate Israel without violating Islamic practices regarding women’s clothing according to Brietbart.com.
The bus would have taken the women within proximity of a number of cities Palestinian extremists have pushed to target as of late, including the city of Biet El. Abdullah Abu Rahma, one of the leaders of the “Popular Committees for Resistance to the fence and Settlements” told the PalToday website in early July that a new campaign, named “Country – be Strong,” will center on Beit El, he said, because “it is a symbol of the settlements.” He said there would be “special and surprising actions” in the near future.
