What Memorial Day Means

Each year I try to think of how to depict Memorial Day in Israel in a way that’s meaningful and juxtapose it in relation to how it’s observed in the US.  Many thoughts race through my head. And each year I see Memorial Day through a different prism.

Hamas’ Theater of the Absurd: ‘Cannibals in Gaza’

A few weeks ago, I turned on my computer and saw the most outrageous video of the year. The ‘brave’ teenage and twenty-something Palestinian ‘revolutionaries’ in Gaza, ‘resisting the occupation’ by the border fence, throwing rocks at the IDF, then retreating behind what looks to be a boy of 4-5 years old.

Demographic Bogeyman

There’s a bogeyman out there: the impending inundation of  Arabs into Israel. “Dateline Jerusalem: A demographic study released Tuesday predicts that in Israel and the Palestinian territories, Arabs will outnumber Jews by the year 2020.”

It’s done. President Donald Trump announced (5/8/18) that the US is withdrawing from the JCPOA (aka Iran deal) and that drastic sanctions on Iran will be reimposed.
