Diplomatic Triumph: Pacific Island Nation of Nauru Opens Embassy in Jerusalem

In yet another historic milestone for Israeli diplomacy, the Republic of Nauru has officially opened its embassy in Jerusalem! This remarkable development marks another significant victory for the Jewish State on the international stage, reaffirming that G-d’s eternal capital continues to draw nations from every corner of the globe.

Who is Nauru?

While many may not immediately recognize the name, Nauru is a small island nation located in Micronesia in the Central Pacific. Despite being the world’s smallest independent republic—spanning just 8.1 square miles—Nauru holds a proud and impactful voice in global affairs.

Nauru and Israel have shared a deep, unwavering friendship since formal diplomatic ties were established in 1995. Time and again, when hostile anti-Israel resolutions were introduced at the United Nations, Nauru stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Israel, consistently voting alongside us against international bias and delegitimization.

In August 2019, Nauru officially recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Moving their embassy directly to Jerusalem is the natural, triumphant fulfillment of that long-standing commitment.

A Growing List of Global Embassies in Jerusalem

This diplomatic triumph adds momentum to an ever-expanding list of nations recognizing historical reality and divine truth.

Nauru proudly joins the growing group of countries with official embassies in Jerusalem:

  • United States – Led the historic movement by opening the first modern embassy in Jerusalem in 2018.
  • Guatemala – Followed swiftly in 2018, reaffirming its deep ties to Israel.
  • Honduras – Officially relocated its embassy to Jerusalem in 2021.
  • Kosovo – Opened its diplomatic mission in Jerusalem in 2021, making history as the first Muslim-majority nation to do so.
  • Papua New Guinea – Inaugurated its embassy in Jerusalem in 2023.
  • Fiji – Officially opened its embassy in Jerusalem as part of expanding Pacific-Israel relations.
  • Paraguay – Made its historic return by moving its embassy back to Jerusalem.
  • Somaliland – Established reciprocal diplomatic ties and opened its embassy in Jerusalem.

Seeing another flag raised over an embassy in Jerusalem shows just how far Israel has come, and how our global friendships continue to grow deeper every day.
