The Prophets Said the Jews Would Return. Now They Call It THEFT

Jonathan Feldstein’s father was a Palestinian. Born in Haifa in 1937 under the British Mandate, he carried a Palestinian identity until May 1948, when he and some 600,000 other Jews became Israelis overnight. On the thirtieth anniversary of his father’s death, and on the anniversary of October 7, Jonathan sits down with Adam Eliyahu Berkowitz to take apart one of the biggest rewrites of history in our time.

Who were the original Palestinians? Pick up a Mandate-era Palestine coin and read the Hebrew. It says Palestine, followed by two letters standing for Eretz Yisrael, the Land of Israel. The Palestine Post, the Palestine Bank, the Palestine Philharmonic: Jewish institutions, every one. The local Arabs rejected the name. It became a national identity only in 1964, when Yasser Arafat, born in Cairo, founded the PLO.

The Bible’s prophets promised the Jews would return to a desolate land and make it bloom. Mark Twain saw the desolation firsthand. Jonathan explains what happened next: the Jews came home, the land prospered, and Arab migrants arrived from Egypt, Syria and across the region to share in it.

Then Jonathan takes us to his balcony in Efrat, in the hills of Judea between Jerusalem and Hebron. An Arab village sits in plain view. Every morning its school plays the Palestinian anthem beneath a portrait of Arafat. Between the village and his home there is a gate and no fence. He explains why that keeps him up at night three years after October 7, why he still refuses to hate his Arab neighbors, and why any real peace has to start with the truth about history.

In this conversation:

The Jewish Palestinian born in Haifa before Israel existed
The coin that exposes the Palestine myth
Why the Arabs refused to be called Palestinian until 1964
UNRWA and the only refugee status in the world you can inherit
Life in Judea and Samaria on the October 7 anniversary
Why Bible prophecy and the return to Zion belong in the same story
