If you’ve been following the news lately, you already know: biblical prophecy is unfolding before our eyes. Every headline out of Israel, every tremor in the Middle East, every moment that makes you reach for your Bible, it’s all there. The prophets saw it. They wrote it down. And we are living it.

This Bible Month, we’re going deep into the prophetic books of the Hebrew Bible. Here are six you need to be studying right now.

1. Isaiah No prophetic book speaks more directly to our moment than Isaiah. His vision of Israel’s restoration, of nations streaming to Jerusalem, of a world redeemed, it reads like tomorrow’s newspaper. Isaiah didn’t just predict the exile. He predicted the return.

2. Jeremiah Jeremiah warned a nation that didn’t want to hear it. He wept for Jerusalem before it fell and promised its rebuilding before the rubble had cooled. In a world that still debates Israel’s right to exist, Jeremiah’s words are not historical. They are urgent.

3. Ezekiel The valley of dry bones. The vision of the restored Temple. Ezekiel is perhaps the most visually stunning book in the entire Bible and the most prophetically precise. Students of Israel’s modern rebirth cannot afford to skip this one.

4. Zechariah Written after the exile, Zechariah speaks directly to a people rebuilding against all odds. “Lo v’chayil v’lo v’koach ki im b’ruchi” — “Not by might, nor by power, but by My spirit.” If there is a verse for this moment in Israel’s history, that is it.

5. Joel Joel’s prophecy of God pouring out His spirit on all flesh has echoed through centuries of interpretation. But read in its original Hebrew context, it is a call to national awakening, one that feels startlingly alive today.

6. Jonah Jonah is not just a fish story. It is a book about a prophet who ran from his mission and what happened when he finally answered the call. In a world that needs more voices of truth, Jonah’s story is a challenge to every one of us.
