A church in a Christian village in southern Lebanon was struck by Hezbollah rockets overnight Thursday, and the IDF has the video to prove it. Footage released by the Israeli military shows Saint George’s Orthodox Church, located in the Christian village of Marjaayoun, being hit by at least one projectile, while other projectiles struck nearby areas. The IDF emphasized that none of its soldiers were operating in the area at the time of the attack. The video clearly shows that the rockets came from inside Lebanon, fired by Hezbollah — the same Iran-backed terrorist organization that has spent decades claiming it exists to protect the Lebanese people.
International media coverage was largely absent. The same outlets that raced to publish breaking reports whenever Israel strikes a target in Lebanon had very little to say when Hezbollah’s rockets demolished a house of Christian worship. The silence fits a pattern in which Hezbollah gets a pass while Israel is presumed guilty before the evidence is even examined.
Marjaayoun is a town in southern Lebanon where Christians form a majority of the population, home to Greek Orthodox, Maronite, and Greek Catholic communities. It is known for its historical sites, including old churches and traditional Lebanese architecture, and has preserved its agricultural heritage, producing olive oil and wine. This should not be a target for Hezbollah. This is a living Christian community, the kind of community that evangelical American supporters of Israel often speak about in the same breath as the persecuted Christians of the Middle East. Hezbollah just rocketed their church.
The IDF released footage showing the impact of the rockets and declared: “This incident further proves how Hezbollah continues to endanger and harm Lebanese civilians.” The rockets were part of a broader Hezbollah barrage that also targeted the northern Israeli border city of Kiryat Shmona, where one rocket impacted a commercial center, causing extensive damage — though fortunately, the center was closed at the time, and there were no injuries.
Hezbollah has long positioned itself as the defender of Lebanon and its people against Israeli aggression. Yet here is the documented, video-verified reality: Hezbollah rockets are striking Lebanese churches. A recent poll found that 89% of Orthodox Christians and 87% of Maronites in Lebanon support disarming Hezbollah. Lebanese Christians are not confused about who threatens them. They know exactly who is burning down their world.

Hezbollah claimed the rocket fire on Kiryat Shmona in at least two statements, saying it launched the barrage “in defense of Lebanon and its people, and in response to the Israeli enemy’s violation of the ceasefire.”
The IDF published the video. The evidence is there. Hezbollah rocketed a Christian church in southern Lebanon. The question now is not what happened — that is settled. The question is whether the world has the honesty to say so.
