In a rather disturbing visual, the Jerusalem municipality removed Israeli flags erected to decorate the streets for Independence Day and replaced them with ‘LGBT pride flags.

One onlooker caught the switch on camera as locals could be heard decrying the action.

On Thursday, the Jerusalem municipality authorized an LGBT gathering to celebrate ‘Pride Month’ despite opposition from the majority of Jerusalemite residents. To their credit, those taking part in the event are fully clothed and refrain from some of the more raunchy acts seen in other pride marches worldwide. And although the event is held in a public space, the police isolate that space with a mile thich radius, essentially preventing anyone not taking part in the event from even seeing it.

Main roads were closed down in Jerusalem’s center during the event.
