Disney has always been associated with children, but recently, that association has taken a dark turn with executives vowing to enact a “secret gay agenda.”

This plan is coupled with a long and troubling history of corporate complicity with employees preying sexually on children.

“Don’t Say Gay” Bill doesn’t say gay.

The story began two weeks ago when some employees of Disney in Florida walked off the job to protest what they felt was a less-than-adequate response by the company to Florida’s HB 1557 parental rights bill. The bill has been mislabeled in the left-wing media as the “don’t say gay bill.” The bill does not relate to homosexuals or homosexuality. The law, signed into law on March 28 and takes effect July 1, prohibits public school teachers in Florida from holding classroom instruction about sexual orientation or gender identity in grades K-3.  

It reads, “Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”

The bill does not mention the word ‘gay,’ nor prohibits private discussions about the subject on school premises.

“The recent statements by The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) leadership regarding the Florida legislature’s recent ‘Don’t Say Gay bill have utterly failed to match the magnitude of the threat to LGBTQIA+ safety represented by this legislation,” an open letter by Disney employees reads.

“Primarily, those statements have indicated that leadership still does not truly understand the impact this legislation is having not only on Cast Members in the state of Florida but on all members of the LGBTQIA+ community in the company and beyond,” the letter added.

The employees demand that the company stop making donations to certain Florida politicians, including Gov. Ron DeSantis. The employees also demanded that the company “commit to a plan to protect LGBTQIA+ staff from such legislation, among other demands,” though since the legislation affects teachers, it is unclear what protection they are demanding. 

Disney Corporation capitulated to its employees’ demands as  CEO Bob Chapek apologized for not speaking out sooner against the bill, saying he should have been a “stronger ally in the fight for equal rights” and was “reassessing our approach to advocacy.” 

The company has already promised to donate $5 million to organizations, including the Human Rights Campaign, that work to protect LGBT rights. Additionally, the company reinstated a kiss between two female characters cut from the upcoming Pixar film “Lightyear.” 

Some employees in Disney California were still unsatisfied as they claimed they were told they couldn’t wear “pride/trans Mickey pins” – which they said Disney itself sells – to show their support.

Disney Execs’ caught on video “not-at-all-secret gay agenda.”

Despite the employee’s claims, a recent video from an internal call surfaced showing that the company’s executives are advocating an extreme pro-LGBT agenda. Videos from the webinar were leaked to right-wing activist Christopher Rufo, who shared them with followers.

In the video, animation director Latoya Raveneau, a director on shows including The Proud Family, said her team has implemented a “not-at-all-secret gay agenda” and is regularly “adding queerness” to children’s programming.

“I was just, wherever I could, adding queerness,” Raveneau added. “No one would stop me, and no one was trying to stop me.”

Raveneau will direct an upcoming animated series, “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder,” a coming-of-age animated series featuring LGBTQ and racially diverse characters.

Disney corporate president Karey Burke says, “as the mother [of] one transgender child and one pansexual child,” she supports having “many, many, many LGBTQIA characters in our stories” and wants a minimum of 50 percent of characters to be LGBTQIA and racial minorities.

Another video showed Disney’s activism partner Nadine Smith of Equality Florida promoting a conspiracy theory that Republicans want to kidnap gay people’s children. She said that GovRonDeSantis wants to “erase you, “criminalize your existence,” and “take your kids.”

Disney’s history of sexual predation on children

For Disney to take a stand advocating for introducing sex education into K-3 education is deeply disturbing as the company has a troubling history of employing child predators.  In 2014, reporters at CNN published a bombshell six-month investigation that discovered at least 35 Disney employees had been arrested for sex crimes against children, attempting to meet minors for sex, and possession of child pornography over the previous eight years.

Despite the company claiming to have put measures in place to prevent this, the troubles continued. In 2019, police arrested a Disney cruise “youth host” for molesting a ten-year-old boy in the ship’s “Oceaneer Kids Lab” and, later that year, arrested another Disney cruise employee for raping a girl “over 100 times” at her home starting when she was 11 years old. Since then, three Disney employees have been arrested for soliciting sex with minors, two have been arrested on 40 total counts of child pornography, and four more were arrested earlier this month in a sting operation targeting “human trafficking, child predators, and prostitution.”

Disney has also been accused of multiple cases of failing to report abuse. According to advocates associated with the International Cruise Victims organization, Disney’s trade-association lobbyists had worked to oppose and then water down federal legislation that would have required stringent safety and reporting protocols for sexual abuse on cruise ships.

Hitting back at Disney

Disney is the largest single employer in Florida, but the employee-generated policy is costing the company dearly. Gov. Desantis struck back. 

“Disney has alienated a lot of people now,” DeSantis told reporters in West Palm Beach on Thursday. He suggested that the state should reconsider its relationship with the company, given their activity. in 1967, Florida created the Reedy Creek Improvement District, a semi-private, independent governing entity controlled by Disney. It gave the company the power to approve construction projects for its theme parks and build and manage the necessary infrastructure to support its operations.

“And so the political influence they’re used to wielding, I think, has dissipated,” Desantis said. “And so the question is, why would you want to have special privileges in the law at all? And I don’t think that we should,” the governor added. 

During an appearance on Fox News’ morning show Fox & Friends on Friday, DeSantis accused Disney of trying to “impose a woke ideology” on his state. DeSantis also blasted Disney’s hypocrisy in pushing domestic social-justice causes while pursuing business in China — a regime notorious for human-rights abuses.

Another opponent to Disney’s actions was political pundit Ben Shapiro of the Daily Wire. At an employee town hall, Daily Wire co-CEO Jeremy Boreing said the company will spend at least $100 million over the next three years to offer children’s entertainment. DW Kids will provide live-action and animated shows to subscribers through the company’s streaming service starting next year.

“Americans are tired of giving their money to woke corporations who hate them,” Boreing said. “They’re tired of giving their money to woke media companies who want to indoctrinate their children with radical race and gender theory.”
