During her visit to Jerusalem on Wednesday, US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi compared the seven species mentioned in the Bible that are indigenous to Israel to ‘diversity.’

“When we came in my colleagues we saw a tribute to the Knesset for its 50th anniversary given to the Knesset built on olive wood but on it the representation of the beautiful diversity of Israel; barley, wheat, grapes, olives pomegranate dates, and figs,” she said.

The fruits and vegetables she mentioned are in reference to the Book of Deuteronomy when Moses promises the Jewish people a land filled with those items:

a land of wheat and barley, of vines, figs, and pomegranates, a land of olive trees and honey;(Deuteronomy 8:8)

Pelosi then attempted to relate those fruits to the “diversity” in congress saying: “We have a similar diversity in our congress. What a lovely way to spell out the roots and the fruit of of of your great country but as I say in our hall because we’re very blessed with diversity as well and I – our delegation here very high-powered delegation but very diverse as well.”

“Diversity” is often used in the context of ‘people of color’ in woke circles. Since she admitted that everyone in her delegation was in favor of dividing Israel in what she referred to as a two-state “solution”, it is likely that people of various races are what Pelosi meant when she made the statement.
