At least 19 firefighting teams and four firefighting aircraft were still battling a wildfire in Begin National Park between Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh on Friday. The fire has been contained to one location.

Israel Fire and Rescue Services released a statement on Friday claiming they found evidence that the fire had been intentionally ignited. The fire began in seven locations separated by dozens of meters from each other in areas that are difficult to reach.
A woman in her 30’s was reportedly arrested on Thursday on suspicion of starting the fire. According to police reports, the woman had escaped a mental institution.
In an unrelated incident, a bus in Ramla went up in flames in what is believed to be a case of arson.

Also on Thursday, two fires broke out near Ben-Shemen Forest and the West Bank settlement of Har Gilo due to unknown causes.
