On Saturday evening at around 10:15 pm local time, a white van reportedly drove onto the sidewalk of the London Bridge, plowing through the crowds. The van continued on to Borough Market, a popular tourist area with restaurants and clubs.

Three attackers were shot dead by police at the second attack scene less than eight minutes after the first attack began. The suspects were wearing what appeared to be explosives vests. Police sappers were called in but it was established that the vests were hoaxes.

The attacks were labelled as terrorist acts by the British authorities.

The incident comes four days before Britain’s national elections.

This is the third terror attack in England in less than three months, coming less than two weeks after a bombing attack perpetrated by Salman Abedi at a concert in Manchester on May 22, which killing 22.
