While much of the world decries Israel’s alleged disregard for human rights, a new interactive map, developed by Israel 21c, belies these claims, highlighting instead Israel’s vast efforts in humanitarian relief around the world. Focusing on five areas of assistance, the map demonstrates that the support of the Jewish State is welcome around the globe.

The map, which uses the mapme.com platform, allows users to zoom in on particular locations where aid has been offered. Clicking on the map’s various icons provides the user with documentation of the specific assistance provided.

The map lists 25 instances of disaster relief, 20 medical, 13 environmental, 9 psychological and 2 educational missions. For example, clicking on Syria reveals that “Doctors in Israel treated a 12-year-old Syrian boy who was seriously injured in a mortar attack in Damascus” in September of 2014. In March of 2015, IsraAid offered “psychosocial support training program for Ebola victims and their families in West Africa.” In October 2014, “Israeli water experts visit California to share expertise in dealing with scarce water resources.” Meanwhile, in August 2012, “IsraAid ran a youth leadership program in Tohoku, Japan in the wake of a deadly earthquake and tsunami.” The most recent effort included in the map is in South America, where the Israeli embassies in Paraguay and Uruguay are organizing donations and humanitarian relief for for families affected by severe flooding in the area. Thus far, they have purchased and distributed $20,000 worth of emergency supplies.

Israel has responded to wildfires, typhoons, hurricanes, floods, and earthquakes, as well as aiding in the rescue of trapped miners, capsized boat passengers and fleeing refugees. It has shared technological innovations in fields such as medicine and agriculture with those in need.

From Israeli humanitarian organizations such as IsraAid to the foreign ministry and the Israel Defense Forces, Israeli aid and support traverses the globe.
