Five rockets were fired from Gaza on Friday night, but only two landed inside Israel, with no injuries or damaged reported. Three rockets landed on the Gazan side of the border fence. Red alert sirens sounded in southern Israel and residents were instructed to enter bomb shelters and safe rooms.

Sunni militants affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility for the rocket attack.

The Israeli Air-Force responded by launching two airstrikes on Saturday morning, hitting two Hamas military targets and two terrorist infrastructure targets. No casualties were reported.

“The Hamas terror organization is solely responsible for all terror activity that emanates from the Gaza Strip,” the IDF said in a statement. “The IDF will continue to act forcefully against all attempts to disturb the peace in Israel’s southern communities.”

Since  the end of Operation Protective Edge in July 2014, almost 30 rockets have been fired into Israel from Hamas controlled Gaza.

On Friday, Palestinians stormed the fence separating Gaza from Israel. The IDF responded, injuring two.
