Thirteen Jews were arrested by the IDF after entering the Arab village of Kfil Harat, with the intention of praying at the tomb of Biblical Joshua Ben Nun located there. They were taken to the Israeli Police station in Ariel, where they were questioned on suspicion of violating an army order that prevents Jews from entering Area A, which is under Palestinian Authority control.
Attorney Adi Keidar of the Honenu organization is providing legal assistance to the arrested worshippers.
Last Monday, Israeli police were called to the Arab city of Shechem (Nablus) in order to aid a bus of 60 Jews who had entered the Palestinian controlled area in order to pray at the tomb of Biblical Joseph. Arabs attacked the bus with stones, injuring some of the occupants. 32 of the Jews were detained for questioning.
