President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas has refused to speak out condemning the horrific murders of 13-year-old Hallel Yaffa Ariel, stabbed to death by a Palestinian terrorist in her bed on Thursday, and Rabbi Miki Mark, a father of ten who was killed on Friday when terrorists shot at his car as he drove with his family south of Hebron.

Abbas did not make a public statement in response to the killings. He has refused requests from Israeli and world leaders who have asked him to speak out in condemnation of the terror attacks. According to a Channel 2 report, Abbas is even refusing to take some of the calls.

The Fatah leader is also suppressing news of the terror attacks, ordering Palestinian media outlets which are loyal to his government to keep the murders out of their headlines.

While Abbas has condemned terror in the past, saying he “opposes violence” against anyone, he has also legitimized Palestinian terror against Israelis by claiming that terror attacks are “justified popular unrest”. He has been criticized before for refusing to speak out against the violent attacks perpetrated on Jews and Israelis by Palestinian and Israeli Arabs.

After Abbas failed to condemn a stabbing spree in Tel Aviv which left an American citizen dead, US Vice President Joe Biden declared, “Let me say in no uncertain terms: The United States of America condemns these acts and condemns the failure to condemn these acts. This cannot become an accepted modus operandi.”
