Shadi Ahmed Mtawa, 28, was arrested at his home on Sunday, November 15, for his role in the killing of Yaakov  Litman, 40 and his son Netanel, 18, in a shooting attack that left the other Litman family members wounded as they were driving outside of Otniel on Friday, November 13.

According to the Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet), Mtawa was turned over to the Israeli security forces by his own father and brother. He admitted his involvement during his preliminary interrogation on Sunday, November 15.

Shin Bet and military special forces subsequently arrived to Mtawa’s house in Hebron to make the  arrest following the security information they received.

According to Shin Bet spokesperson, Mtawa boasted to his brother, Majdi, about the killing.

After Majdi informed his father of the crime his brother had just committed, the two decided to turn the terrorist over to Israeli security forces, reportedly out of fear that their house would be demolished by the IDF.

During the arrest, Shin Bet operatives also uncovered the car and the AK-47 assault rifle used by Mtawa in the shooting of the the Litmans.

According to the Shin Bet, Shadi Ahmed Mtawa admitted to committing the shooting and to having links to the Palestinian terror organization, Islamic Jihad. Further suspects and leads are currently being investigated.
