Two separate terrorist stabbing attacks over the Sabbath have left an IDF soldier and a Border Police guard injured.

The first attack occurred around 11:30 am Saturday when a Palestinian stabbed a soldier at the Ofer checkpoint on highway 443 in Samaria. According to the IDF, the soldier was lightly wounded in the incident. He was able to draw his weapon and shoot the terrorist in the shoulder.

The 19-year-old terrorist, Nasim Yusef Gomhur, is a resident of the Palestinian village of Beit ‘Anan, located near Ramallah. Gomhur approached the soldier for water and then carried out his attack while the soldier had his backed turned getting the water.

In a second incident only hours later, a Border Police officer was lightly wounded when he was stabbed by a Palestinian near the Tapuah Junction in Samaria.

The officer was carrying out a routine security check near the villahe of Hawara when the terrorist pulled out a knife and stabbed the officer in the back.

Troops immediately opened fire on the terrorist, identified by Palestinian Ma’an News Agency as 16-year-old Rafik Kamal al-Taj, a resident of Beita. Al-Taj was critically wounded and later died of his wounds.

Saturday’s attacks are the latest in a string of violent incidents against Israeli soldiers and civilians in Judea and Samaria. Last week, three IDF soldiers were seriously wounded when a Palestinian plowed his car into their patrol.

Later in the week, an Israeli man was stabbed by a mob of Palestinians while filling up his car with gas along Route 443. On Friday evening, a gas station near the settlement of Eli was set on fire.

The Gaza-based terror group Hamas called on its followers earlier this month to carry out attacks against Israeli soldiers and civilians in Judea and Samaria.
