The Israeli Air Force struck terror sites in the Gaza Strip early Thursday morning following rocket fire from the Hamas controlled enclave.
Rocket sirens sounded in the early morning hours, at approximately 2 am, in Israeli towns located near the Gaza Strip.
One rocket was fired into Israel and landed in an open area near the southern city of Ashkelon. No injuries or damages were reported.
It remains unclear which Gaza terror group is directly responsible for the attack.
Several hours later, the IAF struck terror targets near the El Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza in response to the rocket fire.

The IDF said in a statement that it would not tolerate attempts to harm Israeli citizens. The army added that it hold Hamas responsible for the attack.
Earlier this month, rockets struck southern Israel when an ISIS affiliated terror group fired three missiles from Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.
Last month, terrorists in Gaza fired one rocket into southern Israel, prompting a response from the IAF. The Israeli strike targeted a rocket launcher in the northern part of the Strip.
