Earlier this week, Israel365 News reported that the head of the Joint List, MK Ayman Odeh, called on all ‘Palestinians’ serving in Israel’s security forces to resign. But despite calls for him to be investigated for sedition, Odeh doubled down, calling for Jewish soldiers and police officers to resign from their posts as well.
“I want to turn not only to Arab citizens who I turned to in the video clip but also to Jewish citizens – Don’t serve in the occupation forces,” Odeh said in an interview on Channel 2.
Odeh was reminded during the interview that in the past, he ironically urged the same police to do more to confiscate illegal firearms in the Arab communspirinities. He replied that he didn’t once mention the word ‘police’ but meant “occupation forces” and refused to elaborate further.
“There is an elementary right for an occupied nation to fight its occupiers,” he added.
When pressed again if he would retract his statements, Odeh replied: “My sentiments were the most moral. The entire world would accept them.”
Israel365 News also reported that Odeh and other Arab party MKs met with ‘Palestinian’ Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas to discuss ways to save the current coalition and prevent Netanyahu’s return to power.
If the result of these meetings is Odeh joining the government, it will be the first time all Arab parties join a coalition, with the Arab parties enjoying more representation and influence than any other time in Israel’s history.
