Israel is deep into its second wave of the covid outbreak and this time it’s not only affecting restaurant owners. The small businesses, contractors and the unemployed are becoming increasingly anxious as the crisis reaches its fourth month, reports Haaretz.

Economists as well as policymakers are looking at increasingly bleaker scenarios. This includes an upsurge in both bankruptcies as well as double-digit unemployment for a while to come. The policy decisions that Israel can take to ease the crisis are limited, top Israeli economists say.

Andrew Abir, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Israel, expressed concern for Israel’s rapidly rising debt saying: “The issue will evolve from a liquidity disaster to an insolvency disaster.”

And so, as Israel braces for one of its most dramatic poverty pandemic in its history, one organization is scrambling to ensure that no Israeli goes hungry in the process. That organization is Colel Chabad.

Colel Chabad is not only relied upon by the Israeli government to provide food for Israel’s hungry, but also to deliver that food to their homes as well.

Furthermore, Colel Chabad does it with pride and a warm smile ensuring that impoverished Israelis are provided with the basic sustenance they so desperately need with dignity.

Unfortunately, Colel Chabad is only partially subsidized by the government. But the good news is that the rest comes from private donors like you. Why is that good news? Because it gives you the opportunity to fulfill the Biblical commandment of giving charity – And who better to give it to than God’s chosen people in the promised land. You can do that by donating to Colel Chabad right now.

Look, many of us have felt the impact of corona-crisis on our wallets. Nevertheless, this can be your chance to say ‘thank you’ to G-d for your well-being. Your donation will go directly to feeding hungry Israelis throughout the Jewish State. These people need food to survive just as described in the Book of Isaiah.

It is to share your bread with the hungry, And to take the wretched poor into your home; When you see the naked, to clothe him, And not to ignore your own kin. (Isaiah 58:7)

This is your chance to heed the words of the great prophet. Simply donate whatever you can to Colel Chabad today.
