The Vatican confirmed that a patient in its health services tested positive for Coronavirus on Friday. This is the Vatican’s first reported case of COVID-19 reports Breitbart.

Matteo Bruni, who heads of the Holy See Press Office said that the Vatican temporarily closed down its outpatient services for “sanitization” purposes after a patient tested positive for the deadly virus on Thursday.

Bruni also said that the Vatican informed Italian authorities with updates.

Earlier in the week, Pope Francis was tested for COVID-19 last week as a precaution. However, the test’s results came back negative.

The Pope was sick for several days with a cold. He stayed home last week from his yearly Lenten retreat. This led to rumors claiming that he was infected with the virus.

Meanwhile, 16 million residents in about 15 provinces in Italy entered closure as of Sunday morning in an attempt to stop the spread of the coronavirus. According to the order signed by the Italian prime minister, the quarantine will remain in effect for almost a mon
