The Jerusalem Municipality is embarking on a unique initiative for the 11,500 Holocaust survivors who live in the city – free parking in spaces that require payment reports Kol Hair.

The new initiative was approved by the Municipal Finance Committee chaired by Deputy Mayor Zvika Cohen (Shas) on Monday.

The Jerusalem Municipality estimates that the cost of initiative will be an estimated NIS 100,000 (about $28,000).

And while this is great news for Holocaust Survivors living in Zion, their battle for recovery from the horrors that still haunt them is still a long road ahead.

In fact, the whole reason why Holocaust survivors are being extended this benefit is because the government realizes how dire their situation is. The truth is that this initiative is more of a PR stunt than an actual benefit. That’s because very few Holocaust survivors can even afford a car let alone take advantage of the free parking.

They can’t even afford food let alone transportation.

But that’s where you can step in and help.

That’s because there is an amazing organization that ensures that no Holocaust survivor in Israel goes to bed hungry. That organization is called Meir Panim (light of one’s face).

Meir Panim provides Holocaust survivors with warm daily meals, stocked refrigerators, therapy, social programs and most importantly – companionship. Their volunteers offer a listening ear as well as a shoulder to cry on.

And as lovely as all this may sound, unfortunately, it all costs money. Organizations like Meir Panim rely heavily on donors with giving hearts.

That’s why this is your opportunity to help the nations repent for the horrors that Holocaust survivors had to endure. And you can do it with an easy donation from the comfort of your home on the other side of the globe. This is precisely what the prophet Isaiah meant when he said:

It is to share your bread with the hungry, And to take the wretched poor into your home; When you see the naked, to clothe him, And not to ignore your own kin. (Isaiah 58:7)

And if you agree with the prophet’s words, then the God of Israel will reward you as it says in the very next verse:

Then shall your light burst through like the dawn And your healing spring up quickly; Your Vindicator shall march before you, The Presence of Hashem shall be your rear guard. (Isaiah 58:8)

This is your opportunity to make things right. They need your help. So if you can provide, you might want to do so before Rosh Hashanah, when judgement for the year 5880 is decided.
