Munich is slated to present an award to the allegedly antisemitic cartoonist Dieter Hanitzsch in January. He was fired in May 2018 for stoking hatred of the Jewish state in a Nazi-like way.

Munich-based newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung’s editor-in-chief Wolfgang Kach said the cartoon used “antisemitic cliches” when it showed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dressed similarly to Israeli Eurovision entrant Netta Barzilai, who won the 2018 contest.
