Mount Scopus has been the focus of a recent rash of arson attacks, the most recent on Saturday night caused by a firebomb setting the gates of Hebrew University ablaze.

Earlier on Saturday, police said a fire that broke out near the Ofrit military base and the Hadassah Hospital in Mount Scopus was the result of arson. A security video of the Ofrit attack showed the assailant fleeing in the direction of the Arab village of Issawiya.

There have been four arson attacks in the Mount Scopus area in the last two days and seven suspected cases of arson around Israel in the last week. No property damage or injuries have been reported but much land and vegetation has been damaged.

On Thursday,  a blaze, suspected to have been an arson attack near the entrance to Jerusalem spread to the Ramot area. Eight firefighting teams and four planes were deployed to battle the fire.
