A 20-year-old Israeli soldier was stabbed near the central bus station in the coastal city of Ashkelon on Sunday morning, February 7.

The soldier was lightly wounded in his shoulder shortly before 8:30 AM and was treated at the scene before being transported to Barzilai Medical Center.

Magen David Adom (MDA) Paramedic Ariel Plaut, who treated the soldier, said: “We were driving when citizens signaled us to stop, and we saw a fully conscious 20-year-old man on a bench with several stab wounds in his upper body. We transported the victim, who was sustaining light injuries to the hospital by ambulance, while providing him with medical treatment and conversing with him on the way.”

The terrorist who is reportedly an African migrant, attempted to flee the scene. According to the police, another soldier who witnessed the attack took the wounded soldier’s weapon, pursued the terrorist and shot him in the legs on a nearby street. The terrorist was transported to Barzilai hospital in serious condition, where he will undergo surgery.

According to the police, the knife that was used in the attack was located at the scene.
