After a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip exploded in Israel Sunday evening, the Israeli Air Force targeted two Hamas military posts in northern and central Gaza.

The Gazan rocket set off air-raid sirens in several communities in Israel’s southern Sha’ar Hanegev region, which borders the Gaza Strip, sending residents running for shelter.

The rocket landed in an open area, according to the IDF, and no injuries or damage were reported. However, the Israeli army, which holds Hamas responsible for any attacks from the Gaza Strip, retaliated within a few hours, striking a Hamas maritime police base in northern Gaza and an armed wing base in central Gaza. No casualties were reported.

The last rocket fire from Gaza came nearly three weeks ago, when a rocket fell in the Eskhol regional council. The IAF retaliated to that fire by striking several targets within the Gaza Strip, including a Hamas military wing position in the center of Gaza.
