Fatah Facebook Pic Shows Netanyahu Headed for Hanging

An image of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu facing a hangman’s noose has appeared on an official Fatah Facebook page.

The image, bearing the words “coming soon” in Hebrew and Arabic, along with the logo of the International Criminal Court (ICC), was posted on the wall of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’s party page.

The picture, which was flagged by Palestinian Media Watch, appears just days after Palestinian officials applied for membership to the ICC. The move is strongly opposed by Israel and the US, which are concerned the PA will use the ICC to bring war crime accusations against the Jewish state or its representatives. Netanyahu vowed to protect Israelis, particularly Israeli soldiers, from prosecution by the ICC.

This is just the latest in a string of inciteful images posted by Fatah or its supporters. Last week, a picture of the Fatah flag waving over a pile of human skulls emblazoned with Jewish stars appeared on the Facebook page in honor of the party’s 50th anniversary.

Fatah was quick to distance itself from the image, with spokesman Mahmoud al-Aloul saying on CNN, “Fatah did not design this image…The image and the text do not reflect the opinions of Fatah.” He added that whoever posted it was being asked to take it down, and indeed it was removed.

During the summer, while Israeli forces were searching for three kidnapped teens, Fatah’s page displayed several unsavory cartoons, including a caricature of the three missing boys portrayed as rats.
