Although there seems to be a concerted effort to eradicate Biblical values from the American public, the Unites States of America was founded on the solid foundation of Biblical ethics and morals. In fact, according to the JTA, Hawaii is the only state without a city of town from the Bible. Accordingly, there are a number of great cities in the US with Biblical names. Here is our Top 5:
5. Lebanon, Illinois
Yea, the cypresses rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon: ‘Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.’ (Isaiah 14:8)
4. Goshen, New York
And thou shalt dwell in the land of Goshen, and thou shalt be near unto me, thou, and thy children, and thy children’s children, and thy flocks, and thy herds, and all that thou hast; (Genesis 45:10)
3. Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
And it came to pass in the days when the judges judged, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Beth-lehem in Judah went to sojourn in the field of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons. (Ruth 1:1)
2. New Canaan, Connecticut
After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do; and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do; neither shall ye walk in their statutes. (Leviticus 18:3)
1. Salem, Oregon
And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine; and he was priest of God the Most High. (Genesis 14:18)
