MK Rabbi Dov Lipman (Yesh Atid) proposed an amendment to the current immigration law, eliminating the six-month waiting period for medical coverage currently imposed on Israelis returning to Israel alongside family members making aliyah for the first time.  MK’s from Yesh Atid, Likud-Beiteinu, Bayit Hayehudi, Hatnua, Labor, and Shas expressed support for the move.

Lipman described the waiting period as a financial challenge for families in which some members are returning citizens.  “This minor change to the law could have major ramifications for increasing Aliyah. I view this as the first of many reforms which are necessary to inspire more Aliyah and look forward to its quick passage, ” Lipman said.
