The 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi are in full swing. This year, Israel sent a delegation of five athletes to compete in the winter games. Two athletes, Israeli pair skaters Evgeni Krasnopolsky and Andrea Davidovich, earned a spot in the upcoming medal round with their moving free skate performance.
The skating duo have been partners since the spring of 2013 and train in Hackensack, NJ. Skating to the song “Fantasy for Violin and Orchestra,” their performance Tuesday night earned them 53.38 points from the judges, moving the team into 15th place overall.
25 year old Krasnopolsky and 16 year old Davidovich gave an impressive performance. Their routine began with a difficult split triple twist followed by side-by-side triple salchow jumps. However, the climax of the performance was when Krasnopolsky threw Davidovich very high into the air for a throw triple loop.
The final medal round will take place on Wednesday evening, 8 p.m. Israel time. While the Israeli team will not likely receive a medal, skating aficionados have stated that the duo have some serious potential and can be a real force in future competitions.
